On Saturday, May 29th the Hilliardton Marsh Bird & Wetland Research & Education Center is going public in a big way. The public is invited to join us for a fundraising day to help us fulfill many of the goals that we are hoping to initiate. It is more than a fund raising event - it is truly a day for raising fun at The Marsh! We invite one and all to enjoy a day of bird banding, scavenger hunts, tours of The Marsh, and a silver donation barbeque.
The day is starting at 9:00 and people will have an opportunity to see birds being banded in the new “birdhouse”. We are going to have an official ribbon cutting ceremony for the birdhouse at 11:00. Kids will have a chance to get their faces painted and will have the chance to get their photo taken with birds, and perhaps they can enjoy catching some aquatic insects. Kids and adults will also have a chance to build some birdhouses and duck boxes that will find their way to being put up at The Marsh.
We are inviting people to become members of HMBWREC. Annual memberships will cost $10.00, and these memberships will help us to begin establishing some weekend programs for kids and families at The Marsh. The Marsh has always attracted people. Becoming a member may also provide people with special opportunities to volunteer at The Marsh and help us meet our goals of educating the public about birds and wetlands. So please join us for a day of fun, feathers and perhaps a few wet toes. We're looking forward to seeing you on the 29th of May.
