The Christams bird count will once again be happening at the Hilliardton Marsh but this is the first year that we will comfortably be housed in our new building.  The count will convene at the birdhouse located at the Wool Mill Road entrance at 9:00 and the count will go until approximately 2:00 pm. Anyone interested in joining us for this bird count of not just the Marsh but of the surrounding area should join us at 9:00 or feel free to get in touch. While winter finches are low this year you never know what we might find to make the count interesting. The count at the Marsh was started in 1992 and over the years we have seen a totoal of 30 species of birds. Our area also hosts bird counts in Haileybury and Elk Lake. More information on how Christmas Bird Counts are conducted can be seen by following this link, and to see the results of the other bird counts in our area, see this link. Any questions regarding the Christmas Bird Count can be sent to myself. People can contact me at 679-5030.
